Dashboards

Post by gregwhite »

We are using the Interface Table for our network devices. It provides data on each interface of a router and switch, its speed, load etc. When you view the graphs from this data you can export it to a PDF and also XML.
We have been asked to create a dashboard with links to these graphs of both our Lightower and Verizon WANs located at our remote sites. This will give management quick access by clicking on the link and see the associated graph and traffic. Would you know if this XML code can be used to create a link on a dashboard to quickly view the graphs?

Thanks,
Greg

Could you clarify what you mean by this? A screenshot may be helpful.

And perhaps i'm not understanding the situation correctly, but is there a particular reason you aren't building out a dashboard with the perfdata graphs themselves? Like so:

You could build out a dashboard with all the relevant graphs then deploy it to whichever users you like. There would be more work than just "clicking a link" to access the graphs though since a login would be required.

Due to how those graphs get generated on the back-end, feeding raw data as XML or JSON is probably more trouble than it's worth.

We are using the plugin the Interface table which looks like the attachment. What is highlighted in yellow if the port on the router that we want to view the graph.
When we click on actions it pulls up the following graphs.

As that stuff is not native to current versions of Nagios XI (it looks like PNP4Nagios), we can't offer much advice on distributing it to your users. You might have a better shot in the PNP4Nagios community. We only really use it for perfdata processing these days, not graphical components.

I would think you should be able to copy the link to the specific graph and and distribute that, but I am admittedly not super familiar with PNP4Nagios on the front-end.

Thanks for your help. I found I was able to copy the link to the graph and using the URL dashlet I was able to accomplish what I needed to do.
So I am all set and management is happy.
Appreciate your help.

Glad we were able to help. Is it safe to assume we can close the thread or did you have any more questions?
