Nagios XI and Nagios Core Version

HI,

We have Nagios XI at latest version (5.4.3) but the underlying Nagios Core version on the install is 4.2.4. There are some bug-fixes in version 4.3 of Nagios Core we would like however I'm not sure if its OK to upgrade core on its own when its part of a Nagios XI instalation, is this safe to do and are there any gotchas to be wary of?

I would definitely recommend taking a VM level snapshot before you try to do that (or testing on a lab machine).

We usually don't see any problems when Core is upgraded by itself, but it's not recommended since all of our testing with XI is done against the Core version that it's distributed with. It may also impact the upgrade process down the road.
