I have started to install nsclient to check on server stats in the DMZ. I have tried to install on 4 different Windows 2008 R2 servers with one server not letting the service run properly.
I have had three successes with the installs. Two of those servers still need to have further work done to clear up a firewall issue.
The last server I have re-installed twice, and the when starting it through services the log remains as a txt file and only the first line of the log exists "2017-04-19 11:12:56: messafe:modules\FileLogger\FileLogger.cpp:86: Starting to log for: NSClient++ - 0.3.9.328 2011-08-16".
This server is a Windows IIS web server with many web required resources running.
I am unsure how to proceed

NSClient on DMZ servers network problems
Re: NSClient on DMZ servers network problems
Have you tried using different NSClient++ versions?
Can you share the current nsc.ini/nsclient.ini from this machine?
Can you also share the output of check_nrpe/check_nt from the Nagios XI machine?
It's not immediately clear what the problem is. Is the NSClient++ service simply not starting?

Re: NSClient on DMZ servers network problems
The service attempts to start and starts rolling, but hangs.
I have not tried a different NSClient, but it has not failed on any install to this point.

The NSClient community no longer supports 0.3.9.huskgrah wrote:NSClient++ - 0.3.9.328 2011-08-16".
0.4.4 is now our recommended version. If your wizard still suggests 0.4.4, then it is an old wizard. I would suggest trying 0.4.4, but we can certainly try to get 0.3.9 working.
