Standard services list to monitor Hyper-V in XI

We are setting up a new Hyper-V server. What are your best practices services to monitor?

I can't really speak to the "best practices" (they seem to be different based on who you ask), but I can ask what specifically is important for you to monitor. Are you looking to monitor the Hyper-V host, the guests, or both? Is the CPU usage important? How about memory? Network traffic? Do you need to know how many of them are down? Knowing what is important to you will help us out.

That said, here are some plugins you might try, if you have not already: http://exchange.nagios.org/index.php?op ... 1474306548

Also, there is a generic best practices document: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ctices.pdf

i would find the applicable services / processes that hyper-v depends on, as well as any outside port(s) it exposes. this document might help - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... s.10).aspx - might be a question for whomever architected the hyper-v setup.

as @dwhitfield mentioned though, the Exchange is usually a good place to start for looking around.

Thanks @tacolover101! OP, did the MSFT document clarify things for you?
