I'd like to create departmental roll accounts (Eg: NOC, NMC, Engineering) with their own Dashboard views. I've installed the Dashboard Deployment Component and have some questions.
1. After deploying a Dashboard to users, how do you administratively view who has access to it and or remove this "permission"?
2. If I create a Dashboard for my users, I do not want them to edit it. How do you prevent a user from deleting dashlets from a Dashboard that was deployed to them?
We're currently in the evaluation stage of Nagio XI and this may be a deal breaker if cannot be done.

Re: Dashboards for each department.
Dashboards are intended to be configured per-user, so each user can control what is on their own dashboard, currently there isn't a way to enforce permissions on them.
The granular permissions are more for the hosts and services and who has permissions to view them and send commands and such.

Re: Dashboards for each department.
Understood.
I've read the Admin documentation on Dashboards and Views and they sound almost identical. Views seem to contain multiple Dashboards and Dashboards are a single instance. Perhaps you can explain the key differences between the two and their intended function?

Re: Dashboards for each department.
Views can essentially include ANY page in XI, or even external pages in the rotation, whereas dashboards can only contain dashlets. A user's view rotation can add any URL to it. Hope that helps!
Re: Dashboards for each department.
I would like to be able to restrict a user to view only certain hosts or services.
giving a user, X, only user access and nothing else, seems to be pretty pointless as the user X can't then see anything. Is it possible to have more granular control?
it would be awesome if we could say that this user can see all the services for a particular host (or host group) and not others.

Re: Dashboards for each department.
Just create a Dashboard and share it using the Dashboard Deployment Tool, make sure sync is turned on though.mariof wrote:I would like to be able to restrict a user to view only certain hosts or services.
