Three licenses policy

Post by igae1 »

Hi, I saw the "one primary monitoring/production, one backup/failover, and one test environment" nagiosxi license policy; in practical terms, does this mean it´s possible to have three different VM with different IPs, same network, each one with the same nagiosxi license key, _and_ those three machines concurrently running nagiosxi, without licensing issues?

TIA

It depends on what you mean by "running". You cannot actively monitor with the backup system. I would email [email protected] if you need clarification.

Thanks for your quick response, suppose I have a production system running nagiosXI under vm, and I make two more clones (backup and testing) with different IP (but same hosts, services, and so on). What happens if I turn up the three clones at once? (and, of course, nagios starts checking everything)
Thanks in advance.

From a technical standpoint, nothing bad is going to happen (except the extra load/bandwidth). It's not really something you need to worry about if you turn one on for 10 minutes to make sure everything is working before taking one into maintenance.

As far as the licensing details, you need to email [email protected].
