Notification Logs missing

Post by JohnFLi »

WHen I click on in either Nagios Core or XI, it only show a blank screen (as in saying no notification have been sent out.) Yet, I still get notification in my email. If I click the 'latest archive' in Nagios core, it shows that the last notification was sent out yesterday at 2147. If I click on the 'current log' arrow, it just says "No notifications have been recorded in the current log file"

Like I said, i am getting notifications, its just that they are not showing in the notification logs.

ANy ideas?

Are you using a custom notification handler? Is the archive log you are seeing in Core accurate? Is everyone getting notifications? Is your contact an XI user or just a Core contact? What version of XI are you running? SMTP or sendmail? What do the system mail logs say?

I have no idea if everybody is getting the notifications as I can not see in notifications if they were sent out to the people they are suppose to go to.
yes, the archive logs are correct
all contacts are in XI
I am using XI 5.4.5
email is SMTP
no custom notification handler.

You may need to turn on logging first, but can you attach your /usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp/phpmailer.log

I suspect since they are all XI contacts the same thing is happening, but can you check with a couple of people to make sure they are getting the notifications they should?

Also, can you PM me your Profile? You can download it by going to Admin > System Config > System Profile and click the ***Download Profile*** button towards the top. If for whatever reason you *cannot* download the profile, please put the output of View System Info (5.3.4+, Show Profile if older) in the thread (that will at least get us some info). This will give us access to many of the logs we would otherwise ask for individually. If security is a concern, you can unzip the profile take out what you like, and then zip it up again. We may end up needing something you remove, but we can ask for that specifically.

After you PM the profile, please update this thread. Updating this thread is the only way for it to show back up on our dashboard.

I am not able to pm you the profile it is to large.

I don't know why you're interested in mail logs when the mail is going out.
It is the Notification page is where the issue is

The logs will tell us which mechanism is actually being used, in case the checkbox in the UI is not reporting correctly. It could be a database issue. From there, we can make sure the permissions are correct.

I PMed you my email address (and a possible work around, although I bet my workaround is not going to work now that I have seen the size).

If you are not able to email a file that size, you can open a ticket by emailing [email protected] and then you can use our uploader: http://otrs.nagios.com/upload.php -- make sure you generate the ticket first though if you want to go that route.

Sadly, I have not received. Let's just start looking at the permissions.

What's the output of sestatus? Any modifications to /etc/sudoers? Any other hardening?

Please run ll -R /usr/local >> /tmp/llR.txt and then attach (or PM) the output. If you PM, just make sure you update the thread so it comes back up on our dashboard.
