Password lengths with AD integration

Post by jalfaro »

Hello! I'm setting up a new XI and LogServer installation and attempting to integrate it with our ActiveDirectory. I've found that a user with a password of greater than 18 characters will not authenticate, but if the password is changed to fewer than 16 characters the authentication works. Is there a limit to the number of characters for AD based accounts? If so - is that limit configurable? This doesn't seem to be the case with local accounts as the nagiosadmin user password is around 20 characters in length. The users in this AD for compliance reasons all have passwords greater than 14 characters in length. Please advise.

Just a bit of detail I forgot:

Nagios XI Version: 5.4.0
Nagios LogServer Version: 1.4.4

CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611 (Core)
These are manual installs of both applications on virtual machines.

Do you get the same results with both XI and Log Server?

We just tested a system using "mylongpassword#1234" which is 19 chars and it worked just fine on XI and Log Server here
