We have two central locations and around 10 remote locations. What is the current recommendation for distributed monitoring?
I have looked at Gearman but see this, "Mod-Gearman 3.x works with Nagios 3 and Naemon (and might work with Nagios 4)", and the latest version is 3.0.5. So gearman seems to be a little suspect for this setup.
Other options such as MNTOS and Fusion do not seem plausible for us as we are using a central Nagios XI instance with an unlimited license.
Any tips for a design?

What about Federated? https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/gen ... utions.pdf
What's the total host and service count?
Are you just thinking Fusion is not an option because of cost? It seems like the obvious choice.
Also, the following on the Core 5 roadmap should improve performance, and will decrease (though not reduce entirely, of course) the need for distribution:

When will Core 5 be the backend for XI....way too early to say.Ability to incorporate configuration changes on-the-fly without having to do a reload or restart
Use multi-threading in critical sections
Breaking up the Nagios Core project into smaller projects and components

Re: Current distributed monitoring recommendations
Currently we are at 339 hosts and a little over 7400 services...
One of the reasons to try and distribute was that we have 7 remote sites, a primary DC and a COOP DC. Was looking to have the remote sites house their own data in case IPSEC tunnels went down.

Can you explain this a bit more? I still don't understand why Fusion isn't an option after your latest update. When you looked at Fusion before, were you looking at the newly released version? It is much improved and definitely worth another look.RobertWebb wrote:Other options such as MNTOS and Fusion do not seem plausible for us as we are using a central Nagios XI instance with an unlimited license.
