Operations Center - Hide some services

Post by fuchstiger »

Hello!
I have a question (request) about the operations center view. At the top there is an extra filter to hide services where the notifications are disabled.
My question is: Can I add some filter in this section to hide a few services by a given name? For example the service name is something like this "CCMS-Alert: E65". And I want a filter to hide this if there is a "CCMS" string in a service name.
So the idea is filtering by a pattern in a service name.

There is no facility to filter by text pattern. However, you could perhaps accomplish this with service groups. Ie: create a service group to include the services with "CCMS" in the service name and then filter on that services group.

And if I create a servicegroup for the services with "CCMS" is it possible to filter out these services? Or to show only these services?
At the moment I have a few servicegroups and if I choose one of them in the Operations Center and press update I only see the problems of this servicegroup. But I want the opposite :)

i don't think this is possible, but it brings up a good point with Nagios XI. custom views would be really cool on the operations center page, which could be per user or a global basis. the logic could be service group != instead of ==. this would also allow you to isolate possible test / stg / dev / QA environments.

another way to run with it, would be allow the operations center page to be a dashlet, which could be modified on a dashboard.

just my two tacos.

Are you suggesting each servicegroup be set up as separate dashlets (Custom URL dashlet), or something else?

I'm submitting a feature request for the negative logic.

nope, allow the operations center to be user configurable at a dashlet level, so one could create a custom dashboard resembling the original.

Submitted.

@fuchstiger, did you have any other questions or comments about this, or are we ready to lock it up?

@dwhitfield No, thanks. I hope the negative logic comes in one of some future XI versions.
