Load on servers due to large number of alerts

Post by RIDS_I2MP »

Hi Team,

Current setup in our Nagios XI is such that Nagios sends alerts only once when state changes. If team misses this one alert it is creating an issue. So now we are planning to re-notify the contacts after specified interval. Due to this will the Nagios XI server or SMTP server experience high load which will create an issue in future ?

We have four Nagios XI servers, two of them have enterprise license and rest two have Standard license (number of hosts : unlimited).

Also let us know if we can check whether the load will be high or not.
Thanks & Regards,
I2MP Team.

You're doing exactly what is supposed to be done - repeat notifications if the problem persists.

This will not cause any more load on the Nagios server than normal operation (in fact, it IS normal operation). Depending on how many messages, it may or may not impact your SMTP server; that's impossible for us to know in the forums.
