I'm with the same problem....I tried to up a new map image, but appears a error "attribute denifition out of object".
Could you help to fix this?
I need a manual with step by step. I'm afraid the situation will get worse if I type something wrong on linux.

Which version of Nagios XI do you have?

Are you adding the NagVis map in XI Home --> Views also?
