Monitor displays and display solutions.

Post by Interrex »

Hi, in our business we have a lot of display solutions.

The computers and the software are covered with Nagios check's.
We have an ongoing case where we want to monitor the display hardware and get a "proof of content" that the monitor actually played the information we want.

The displays are from Samsung / LG / NEC and supports SNMP.
I was hoping someone else already had done some testing / checks for this ?
And want to share some ideas / results of their testing. :)

Hello, @Interrex. I'm not very familiar with SNMP monitoring of computer monitors, but I can certainly help with general SNMP configuration and getting it to work with XI. You'd need to look into the manufacturers manual for these monitors to find out exactly what kind of SNMP information it is possible to get out of them. I'm not sure if it's possible to actually monitor the displayed content, I'd expect more like some usage statistics. But I might be wrong. So as long as your monitors do provide the snmp info you're looking for you will be able to get it to work with Nagios.
