Setting Downtime with the REST API

Is there any way to set downtime via the Rest API? Ideally I'd love to set downtime for all hosts and/or services in a Hostgroup, but individual hosts would work.

I saw an answer from 2/17 in the forums that indicated that this wasn't supported but I'm hoping the API has improved since that time.

I'm hoping to avoid running local scripts on the Nagios Server and would really prefer to be able to interact with the API

The ability to add/remove scheduled downtime via the REST API will be included in the Nagios XI 5.5.
