Snmp trap hostname change

Post by maal »

I notice nagios id's the snmp trap sender in my case by it's public Dns record.
I need to be able to change this in the graphs . As of now my host are specified by up or what ever fqdn it came in on. Such as the isp's domain. I would like to change this name on the dash board and graph. Please advise.

DNS resolution is handled by the /etc/snmp/snmptt.ini. Setting dns_enable = 0 can disable dns lookups altogether and setting strip_domain = 0 will strip off the domain name of hosts. snmptrapdshould be restarted after making changes to this file:

service snmptrapd restart
