hostgroups logic

Post by rjmon »

i was troubleshooting somebody configuraton, found out that he created a hostgroup, to this group he added windows and linux hosts also its services. THis is alerting on all the services. For example Linux hosts are failing with 255 out of bounds errors for C drive and F drive usage. After i remove the hostgroup they are fine. I am guessing i need to create 2 separate windows and linux hostgroup , then i should add these hostgroups into global OS hostgroups. Is my understanding correct?

@rjmon, When you add a service to a hostgroup it gets automatically added to each host in that hostgroup. The solution is to either add the service check to selected hosts manually, instead of adding it to a hostgroup. Or, another solution is to split hosts between two hostgroups and add services only to appropriate host groups. Does this answer your question?
