In my company's Nagios deployment we have hosts that have child services configured (figure its fairly standard). I'd like to see if there is a way when I disable notifications on the host it would also disable notification on the child services as well. And vice versa when I re-enable the notification at the host level it would then re-enable the notifications on the child services.
Conversely I know you can schedule downtime for a host and the child services. However, then there are a flurry of emails are sent stating the host/services are in a scheduled downtime and again when it comes out of the downtime.
In a nutshell I want to be able to easily put a host and its child services into a maintenance mode without all of the email notifications. And then take them out.

Re: How to disable notification - host & child services
Probably the best thing to do would be to turn off downtime notifications for hosts and services
Click your username (top right) -> Notification Preferences
Uncheck Host Downtime: & Service Downtime Downtime:
Then if you need to take a host down for maintenance schedule the host for downtime (you do not need to schedule all services too).
