Hello, I'm using XI 5.5.0, I will upgrade shortly.
Is there a problem with changing the "localhost" name ?
Do upgrades or other functions look for "localhost" ?
Thanks for your time!

Is localhost name required?
Re: Is localhost name required?
There shouldn't be a problem with changing the "localhost" name for upgrades or any functions.
Having said that, there is a very slight chance that downloading reports as PDFs *may not* work if you change "localhost", but using the "new" name in the program and/or external URL (under System Settings) should fix the issue if ever happens. As always, try any mods in a test environment, prior to applying them in production.
Hope this helps.

Re: Is localhost name required?
I do this for all my client and my own Nagios instances. The name "localhost" loses its relevance and meaning in larger environments and in situations where you have upstream Nagios instances feeding a "Master" Nagios instance with check data via obsess/NRDP.
