Error: Could not find any host matching

Hi,

I am getting the following error when trying to apply my config:

Error: Could not find any host matching 'drexchvm01.corp.globetax.com' (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/services/drexch02.corp.globetax.com.cfg', starting on line 93)

Error: Could not expand hostgroups and/or hosts specified in service (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/services/drexch02.corp.globetax.com.cfg', starting on line 93)

I tried following the steps in https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... =7&t=44126 but it did not resolve the issue.
Also, I have none idea what is being referred to in line 93 as these .cfg files do not contain that many.

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

You need to correct the object definition error that nagios is complaining about. Try these two possible solutions:
1. Add a host object called 'drexchvm01.corp.globetax.com'
2. Remove 'drexchvm01.corp.globetax.com' from the service definition

After making the change(s), what is the output when you enter this command in the CLI?

If the problem persists, could you include your host/service definitions onto this post?

There were no services bound to it as I had removed them already but I had added and removed the host many times. SHould I add the host bind a service then remove it?

There may something wrong with your database. Before repairing it, be sure to make a backup of your files. You can follow the instructions here: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf

After the backup is done, repair the database with this script as root user:

/usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/repair_databases.sh
Then sign into the terminal as the Nagios User and run this script and show us the output:

What version of MYSQL are you running?
To get that, run this as root.

mysql -V
Has the MYSQL database been offloaded to a remote server?
Were there any updates done to the server?

Can you run the following and post the output to the ticket?

echo 'show global status;' |mysql -t -u root -pnagiosxi

It looks like the objects in the Core Config Manager are not in sync with the running config and that is causing the error..

To fix that, login to the XI GUI and go to the Core Config Manager
Under "Tools", click "Write Config Files" or if you are running a newer versions of XI, The menu is called "Config File Management"
Click the click the "Write" button, then the "Delete" button then click the "Write" button and then the "Verify" button
If you get any errors, resolve them and click on the "Delete" button, "Write", "Verify" until all of the errors are resolved.
Click the Apply Configuration link and click the "Apply Configuration" button after ALL of the errors are resolved.

For the second one I followed the steps and saw no errors but when applying any new config still get the same message.
