Nagios Support Forum

Hi Masters,
We are planning to implement Nagios as a complete alerting system for HDP cluster. But i heard from couple of forums that HDP clusters from version 2.3x are not supported by Hortonworks. So i just want tocheck with Nagios whether Nagios can support HDP clusters if we implement the alerting sytem instead of using AMS (Ambari Metric System)?
