Soft service recoveries being logged as hard

Hello,
We're having an issue after upgrading from Nagios XI 5.4.8 to 5.5.3. Soft recoveries are being logged as hard recoveries - This is affecting the "top alert producers" report, which appears to look for hard state changes.
Is this a known issue? Or have I gone wrong with a config item somewhere?
(The service check timing out is a separate issue, which we're looking in to)
