Transferring Snapshot "logstash"

Post by HASupport »

Hi,

I'm doing some testing of transferring snapshot "logstash" data from one system to another and have the following scenario:

1. Fresh install of Nagios (https://www.nagios.com/downloads/nagios ... er/vmware/) in a Virtual machine (completely isolated from the rest of the network)
2. Working Cluster install of Nagios with a few TB of data.

I wish to transfer a single snapshot file representing a 24hr period from (2) above, to the fresh install of Nagios and restore the data to that instance.

As an example I copy the directory "logstash-2018.09.28" from the Cluster install to the "usr/repository/indices' directory on the VM. However the "Index Status"
page in the Nagios LogServer web interface never lists this particular snapshot so I cannot restore it to that instance.

What files/procedure should I follow as a minimum to get this working please? I have read over the following two PDFs but must be overlooking something obvious
and would appreciate any input you can provide into this please.

What you need to do is setup the new Log Server to be able to access the repository (mount snapshot repository) then add repository to Admin -> Snapshots & Maintenance

then you should be able to restore the index through the Web UI
