Needed Ramdisk?

Hello guy,
I was wondering if I needed a RAMdisk for our environment since the web interface is sometime a little bit slow. 4-10 sec waiting.

I did yesterday upgrade the max SQL connection to 500 which help. But I was wondering if the ramdisk would be help for that situation even if the latency does not look so bad.

Was also wondering if we need to do a script to backup and restore everything on it upon restart. Or it's handle by the OS/Service.
Don't want to end up with a not working environment.

Thank you guys.

Hey,

My personal advice is, if you have half a GB of memory spare, to set up the ramdisk anyway. It helps and is not that hard to set up, just follow the official instructions. You'll have to do it eventually, why not enjoy the benefits now. We assigned it 500 MB which is only used 13 % atm:

Code: Select all

tmpfs 500M 63M 438M 13% /var/nagiosramdisk
Grtz

Willem

I have to agree with @WillemDH, if you have the available memory, it would be beneficial to do it now
