Dear Support team,
I am running Nagios XI 5.6.1 on a virtual machine. About two weeks ago I started receiving a lot of messages from our switches and routers like this message:
***** Nagios XI Alert *****
Nagios has detected a problem with this service.
Notification Type: PROBLEM
Service: GigabitEthernet1/0/2 Status
Host: RouterHDN
Address: 192.168.11.1
State: WARNING
Info:
WARNING: SNMP error: No response from remote host 192.168.11.1
Date/Time: 2019-05-15 09:25:55
At the beginning I though the problems were due to network problems but I later checked and my network is normal.
In some situations, this messages made the nagios server too slow for accepting an ssh terminal connection. After some reboots, I repaired the db (using nagios script) and performed the upgrade to the current version. Everything worked great but today I noticed more than 100 emails on my inbox with the SNMP error and noticed again slower ssh login on the console.
Find attached the current "top" output from terminal.
Look forward for your comments.
Best regards,
Alejandro Arroyo

Re: WARNING: SNMP error: No response from remote host
One thing I see in the top command is that the server only has 2 Gig of ram allocated to it and that is swapped.
When that happened, that would make the server run slower, etc. so I recommend allocating more memory to the system.
Doubling it to 4 Gig would be a good start.

Re: WARNING: SNMP error: No response from remote host
I increased the memory to 4 GB. Let you know how it goes.
Thanks,
Alejandro
