Notifications to Admins from Tenant's Hosts

Post by ericclaus »

Hi all,

We run an IaaS environment for our tenants where we provide monitoring of our tenants' hosts using multi-tenancy in Nagios. We, the Nagios admins in our company, would like to only receive notifications from our tenants' hosts if they go down. We don't want notifications from services on our tenants' hosts to be sent to us.

We also have hosts that we "own" and manage that we would like to receive all notifications from, including notifications from services on those hosts.

Here's what we are trying to do:
  • Nagios Admins:
    • Receive host notifications from all hosts
    • Receive all notifications from our own internal hosts
  • Tenants:
    • Receive all notifications from their hosts (grouped into per-tenant host groups)
I'd greatly appreciate any advice on how to accomplish this.

Thank you!

Make the admin a contact on the internal hosts but do not specify a contact on the internal services. The services will inherit the admin contact from the hosts.

Make the admin a contact on the tenants' hosts and specify the tenant as a contact on their services. The services will not notify the admin if another contact is configured.
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.
