Upgrade from 5.6.0 to 5.6.3 does not progress
Hi There,
I am trying to upgrade NagiosXI from 5.6.0 to 5.6.3.
I am trying the manual download method. Each time I execute "upgrade" script, nothing happens.
Package download via link https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... 1546973582
It just sits there without any progress even after waiting for more than 15mins.
Please suggest.
Thank You,
Sampath

Hi Sampath,
I just tested this without any issues using the upgrade script (below). What method are you using to upgrade? It just sits there without any progress even after waiting for more than 15mins.
Code: Select all
wget -O upgrade.sh https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/upgrade.sh
sh ./upgrade.shAs of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.

Hi Sampeth,
The upgrade.sh script is for the quick method. See: Nagios XI Upgrade Instructions
Can you run ./upgrade as root from the terminal and then post the full output so we can review the errors?

@benjaminsmith,
When I run "./upgrade", nothing happens. It just stays there forever without any progress or error and am running this as root.

Hi Sampeth,
Typically the upgrade script will either execute or fail with an error. Have you tried using the web interface to upgrade. Go to Admin > System Information > Check For Updates and select the button Upgrade to Latest Version.
Also, please upload the upgrade log at /usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp/upgrade.log if it fails again.
Thanks.

Re: Upgrade from 5.6.0 to 5.6.3 does not progress
Tried to upgrade from web console, but it was failing with error:
I am suspecting this error could be due to low on space in /store dir, but I do see about 12gigs of free space. Not sure if that is enough or not.
Is there a way I can run this upgrade without running backup from web console as I have taken backup last night only?

Hi Sampath,
Also, can you PM your system profile for us to review.
To send us your system profile.
Login to the Nagios XI GUI using a web browser.
Click the "Admin" > "System Profile" Menu
Click the "Download Profile" button
Save the profile.zip file and share in a private message or upload it to the post/ticket.
The backup archive can be large as it saves everything. You can try to clear out older backups to save space. They are located in /store/backups/nagiosxi/.I am suspecting this error could be due to low on space in /store dir, but I do see about 12gigs of free space. Not sure if that is enough or not.

Re: Upgrade from 5.6.0 to 5.6.3 does not progress
Yep deleted already. There are this few other "ibd" files which are consuming a lot of space, please see below:
Can you please suggest what these files are and can they be deleted?

Re: Upgrade from 5.6.0 to 5.6.3 does not progress
Hi Sampeth,
That folder should just contain the backup archives, so I'm not sure why those files are there. Before proceeding, I highly recommend you make a backup using the FTP or SSH option under Admin > System Backups > Scheduled Backups.
See: Backing Up And Restoring Your Nagios XI System
Once you have a current backup saved to another systeem, then proceed with removing the remaining files in /store/backups/nagiosxi/.
Also, is this a VM? Is is possible to increase to the amount of drive space?
Thanks.
