Hi,
How to enable the dependency for Services on other services.
For Ex,
We have configured the PING, Tomcat and Httpd services availability, if the PING is not working no need to check for rest of the Tomcat and Httpd services.
Now we are getting 3 alerts (for each separately ), we need to enable the dependency for tomcat and httpd services with PING.
If PING is succeed then only Tomcat and Httpd services should check.
Please let us know how we can achieve this.
Thanks,
Suresh

Re: How to enable the dependency for Nagios Services
Read this (https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ncies.html) to understand it, then use service dependencies in the CCM. Your master service will be the Ping check and the rest will be your dependent service. Set the execution failure criteria to be CRITICAL, and the dependent services will only check if the master is not in the CRITICAL state.

Thanks for chiming in, Eric!
Suresh, dependencies are definitely the way to go for what you've described. Have a look at the link Eric posted, and if you run into any problems, we'll be happy to help.
