Monitoring Cluster Implementations

Post by meganwilliford »

I am looking for more information on the best way to monitor cluster implementations. For example RHEL clustering, HP Service Guard, AIX Power HA, AIX GPFS, RAC/ASM clusters on both linux & AIX. The remote RHEL and AIX servers will all have ncpa, ideally we'd be able to leverage the use of ncpa for monitoring clusters.

This is going to be a tough one. Every implementation is different, so a lot of what is best is going to based on your setup. Settling on NCPA for your hosts is a good start. From there you can monitor the services that are required to keep your clusters healthy. You might also get some use out of the check_cluster plugin.

For Oracle RAC, there are a number of plugins on the Exchange. For example,
