"Send custom host notification" doesn't include my message

Post by stefanlasiewski »

I am running Nagios Core Version 3.2.3 , which was recently upgraded from Nagios 2. This is CentOS 5.x

I want to test Nagios notifications, and clicked on the "Send custom host notification" button, and added a custom comment to the "Comment:" which said "Test, ignore."

But when I receive the notification, my custom comment is not there. Instead, the notification looks *exactly* the same as a normal host recovery. I was expecting this notification to look custom, and contain my message.

I checked in commands.cfg, and our notify-by-email definition is the default definition included under /etc/nagios/sample/command.cfg-sample.

Should the "Send custom host notification" actually send a message which contains a custom message?

No it doesn't send the actual entered custom message, whether this is a bug or by design I'm not really sure I've never really thought to ask... but it has been the case for as long as I've been using Nagios.
