So I am deploying a CentOS 8 VM today and when I go to add it to Nagios I am blasted with an error.
Running './4-firewall'...
The service command supports only basic LSB actions (start, stop, restart, try-restart, reload, force-reload, status). For other actions, please try to use systemctl.
Redirecting to /bin/systemctl restart iptables.service
Failed to restart iptables.service: Unit iptables.service not found.
RESULT=5

INSTALLATION ERROR!

Installation step failed - exiting.
Check for error messages in the install log (install.log).
If you require assistance in resolving the issue, please include install.log
in your communications with Nagios XI technical support.
The script that failed was: './4-firewall'
Is my method of installing nrpe agent antiquated?
wget https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ent.tar.gz
tar xzvf linux-nrpe-agent.tar.gz
cd linux-nrpe-agent
./fullinstall

Hello @acentek,
This has just recently been released and while I don't have an exact date, we are working on developing and testing our products for Cent OS 8 as there have been many changes to this release..
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hello @acentek,
Apologies as I don't have an official release date yet. You can install NRPE on Cent 8 but my understanding is that there are few packages that are still not available for some of the plugins.
Let me know if you have further questions.

Re: Centos 8 - NRPE client installation method
Yeah... I was told exactly the same three months ago.
Still nothing from Nagios and the Nagios support is pretty arrogant about it.
Tell me what do you need to adapt? Maybe we can help?
Because the error about iptables which has been deprecated a while ago is pretty clear.
We have 250 servers waiting to be upgraded to RHEL 8... And NOTHING comes from Nagios more than six months after the production release of RHEL 8
... Not even mentioning the beta version that was available even earlier... Not even talking about the Fedora release even earlier... Now event CenOS 8 is available... But still nothing from Nagios.

Hello @unfir,
I understand the inconvenience and we typically provide support once the lastest CentOS version has been released. However, there were a lot of changes in RHEL 8 compared to version 7 has this has slowed the process down.
If you are interested in deploying NCPA, there is a build available for CentOS 8.x right now.

The other option would be to try and install NRPE from source and post any error messages and we can try to help you resolve them.

Re: Centos 8 - NRPE client installation method
Hello @unfir,
Some good news as one of the developers here has made some changes to the installer to work for version 8. It should be available later this afternoon if you'd like to test this out.
Let me know if you have any questions.
