Using Host Groups and Monitoring Groups

Can someone explain the advantages of using Host and Service groups. Does this allow the configuration of groups of Hosts and or Serives, I.E. can I change monitoring or alering parameters at a Host or Service group level rather than a Host or Service level. Could I put a Host Group into maintenance mode (ignore alerts) and have it apply to all members.

Host and Service groups allow you to group hosts and services in a logical manner, making it easier for users to notice issues, especially on a large network. To make changes on a "group level" rather than a Host or Service level, you can use templates. Please, review this document for more info:
