No configuration wizard

Post by Tedtech »

Installed Nagios on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS according to the documentation here: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... Server.pdf

After completing the installation there is nothing other that a bit of info on the configuration page. No connection wizards. Did I miss a step?

The only thing on the configure page: "Logstash is currently collecting locally on: 10.10.100.125 tcp6: 3515, 2056, 5544, 2057udp6: 5544"

Thanks

On the home page there are a couple of + icons like "+ Windows ". Clicking these provides configuration steps.

Another way is the Configure menu and then clicking "Add Log Source" on the left hand pane.

This documentation explains it:

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... Server.pdf

Does this provide the information you were after?

No, that didn't help much. When I go to "add source" and select "network device" and then the cisco tab.......the instructions tell me to go to " Administration > System Logs > Remote Log Servers" and those menu options don't exist.

Still trying to find out why I don't have any of the configuration wizards.

Your Cisco device may have different steps/menus. If you do a search on the web for `yourdevice + "syslog configuration"` you'll probably find the steps needed to make your device send its logs to a remote syslog server(NLS).

I'm not sure what you mean by 'configuration wizards'. Where do you expect to see them in NLS? Wizards are available for our other product(Nagios XI) but we don't have any 'wizards' for NLS. Maybe XI is what you're thinking of?
