No IP Address

Post by [email protected] »

I downloaded the .OVA file and the VMware Player v. 15. Everything installed OK, I"m following the Installation Guide until I get to step #18.
(The following screen will show up. It is important to note that your IP address will be different. Make sure you use the IP address shown in your VMware Workstation Player). In my case, I have a set of blank brackets and no IP address. What is typically the reason for this? And, what do I do about it?

Out of the box, the OVA image is set up to connect to the network and grab an IP address via DHCP.
Even if it's not able to reach a "real" network, VMWare's virtual network should have provided a virtual interface and assigned an IP address.

I was able to reproduce your http://[] result that you saw if I go to the preferences for the VM and uncheck "connected" and "connect at power on", the network comes up completely disabled, so DHCP fails.

So, please have a look at your VM settings, and reboot your Nagios VM and see if that helps.
