We currently have two servers in our log cluster that are running on CentOS 6. as 6 is EOL this year I am looking at spinning up 3 new CentOS 7 vm's.
My question is this. Would it be possible to add the 3 new servers to the existing cluster, and then retire the 2 original centOS 6 boxes?
I have not been able to find any specific documentation on this procedure.
Many thanks
New server install

Yes. The only caveat is, when you have more than your licensed amount of instances in your cluster active, you will not be able to actively search logs.danniiffxi wrote:My question is this. Depending on your cluster size, I would recommend adding one of the new CentOS 7 machines to the cluster, then removing one of the CentOS 6 machines, then wait until the cluster status shows Green (meaning there is a primary and replica of every shard in the indexes) and then repeat until all of the CentOS 6 machines are decommissioned.

Re: New server install
Excellent thank you Scott, we have an unlimited licence, so adding to the cluster should not cause any issues.
