Backup before upgrade - Tiny question

Hi,

To upgrade our server, i always followed the XI_Upgrade_Instructions.pdf, but it means stopping the service for more than 30 minutes. What about using xi_backup.sh instead ?

This script doesn't stop the service and has the advantage to allow thye use of xi_restore.sh in case of trouble. Is this idea a good one or not ?

Thanks,

Aurelien.

Honestly, I personally prefer the xi_backup.sh method, and it is really a more complete backup.

I think an upgrade to the documentation may be in order.

The one difference is that the xi_backup.sh assumes that the install is using the passwords set at install and they have not been changed.

Just to inform you, the upgrade didn't worked. I had the exact same behavior as described in this thread:

The fix you provided by Scott also worked for me.
