Nagios XI accept inbound emails and generate an alert?

Post by Interrex »

Hi, I have some hardware devices with licensed SNMP module, the system can send alerts by email for free.

I checked out the mail2mon plugin, it's very complex to configure..

Also the forum thread about this is old, https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=33299

I see that in Nagios XI 5.6.2 theres an inbound E-Mail Processor that can do some things, as far as I can see it doesn't support alerts..

Anyone got any tips on how they create alerts from inbound e-mails ?

Or will it be a deep dive into mail2mon filters ? :)

Hi @Interrex,

That's correct, the Inbound Email Commands are for sending Nagios commands over incoming email for convenient acknowledgments, scheduling downtime, disabling notifications..etc.

Actually, I hadn't come across that plugin before, but that's possibly the best option outside of writing a custom script. Please let us know if you're able to get it configured.
