VPN ? and Slaves behind a FW?

Post by LuisN »

Hey guys, i wanted to get some input on this.

I have a central location where its in my data center. then i have several Slaves i want to put in the 'wild' :) but some locations might have slow internet . or i might not have full access to their routers / fw/ hardware only get a dhcp internal IP and thats it.

what solution can i put to 1, have the slave automatically connect to the main server , internet might be slow at time in these remote locations, and i want to eventually be able to ssh or anything to the slave later on as well through this "vpn" tunnel. hopefully ill find a solution its very important

You could just have the "Slaves" send the data up to the master by configuring Inbound/Outbound data transfers.

Would this be what you are trying to accomplish?

Well the thing is, i want to send the mysql info as well just in case. I am using Nagvis so would it work to show the status etc on the map?

we also want to be able to remote into the unit, ssh, VNC etc.

I don't exactly understand what you mean by this, the outbound transfer will send all of the data for each check.

It will.

This is going to just depend on how you setup the server and network.
