Bulk modification: Remove Service Group from Services
Bulk modification: Remove Service Group from Services
The Bulk Modification tool doesn't appear to have an option for disassociating a Service Group with Services. Any suggestions for bulk removing a particular Service Group from a list of Services?

Hi @TBT,
The Service Group makes it pretty easy to select/remove large numbers of services from a specific service group. Just go to CCM > Monitoring > Service Group. Hope that helps and let me know if you have more questions.

Something doesn't add up here.... Navigating to CCM > Monitoring > Service Groups, clicking Edit for the Service Group Name , the Manage Services memberships are 0 (meaning there are no associated services).
That being said, when I click on the Relationships, I see the objects listed here.
FYI, all other Host Groups & Service Group behave the same.

Re: Bulk modification: Remove Service Group from Services
HI,
After a closer look, due to the object relationships, when the service group is assigned at the service object level, it's not possible to delete this from the service group setting in the GUI right now. Not a quick fix for removing those settings at the moment, my recommendation would be to use the Service Templates to make it easier to manage associations with service groups.
Hope that helps out, let me know if you have more questions.

Re: Bulk modification: Remove Service Group from Services
Switching over thousands of Services to Service Templates isn't an option at this point.
Perhaps submit this as a feature request, just as the Bulk Modification tool can do for Hosts?

Hi,
Update. I have some good news! If you're able to upgrade to the latest version ( 5.7.2), this feature has been added to the Bulk Mods Tool.
We always recommend making a backup/snapshot or upgrading on a test server before making changes to your production environment.

Excellent! We're planning an update in the near future, in addition to moving off CentOS in favor of Debian.

Sounds good.
I'll go ahead and close this out, but feel free to open another if you have any new questions.
