setup a new service on xi 5.7.2 and email notifications are not going out, but when i send a test e-mail it works. Attached is a screenshot of the notification screen
the service in question is reporting:

Have you set your Mail Settings to use Sendmail or SMTP? You can check this by navigating to the Admin section using the bar on top > click Email Settings under System Config > and looking at the selection for Send Method: under Outbound Mail Settings.

Click the "Admin" > "System Profile" Menu
Click the "Download Profile" button
Save the profile.zip file and share in a private message or upload it to the post/ticket, and then reply to this post to bring it up in the queue.
The following article has more detailed information on troubleshooting notification problems in XI.If it doesn't arrive, the problem could be one of the following:Outbound SMTP connections may be blocked by your border firewall. Lastly, unauthenticated SMTP relaying may be denied somewhere downstream - try switching email methods from Sendmail to SMTP in the admin section.
- Nagios server cannot send mail outside of your network (if you are using Sendmail)
- Also Nagios may not be able to relay mail through your company server (if you are using SMTP)

i got this fixed. something was wrong with my generic-service template. once i added e-mails to it, saved, applied, removed e-mails, saved and applied everything started working
