I have manually created a Contact in Nagios XI (the contact was not automatically created by creating a new user). I then setup some hosts and services to notify that Contact for problems. Notification e-mails do not go through to the Contact. However, notification e-mails go through just fine to Contacts that were created automatically with an associated User.
Any suggestions on what I should check?
Notification E-mails to Contact
Re: Notification E-mails to Contact
The best way to setup a contact in Nagios XI is to go to: Admin->Users->Manage Users->Add New User. The "Create as Monitoring Contact" check-box is selected by default. Unless you clear it, clicking on "Add User" will create a user, who is also a monitoring contact.
If you created a contact by going to: Core Config Manager->Alerting->Contacts->Add New, the new contact wouldn't be able to log in the web interface and change its notifications settings. Also, it would not use the "default" notification event handlers.
Please, read our documentation on XI users and contacts, to learn more on the topic:

Hope this helps.
