unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
Hello Nagios Support (and box293)
I've followed https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... it=+vmware thread and installed MSW test VM
However, the instructions do not include the plugin/certs/and all other info we've used in vMA case.
- should I follow the same instructions from vMA on that?
Tried to switch VMWARE check to the new MSW, but no luck so far (see the pictures attached)

Re: unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
Try taking the XI part out of it first and make sure the plugin will run on the MSW and return what you want. Do this buy running the plugin directly on the MSW:
If you can get that to work and returning the correct info then we should be able to get it to work with XI.
Code: Select all
./box293_check_vmware.pl --timeoute 90 --server 172.19.1.60 --check Host_CPU_Info --host cakc-bur-esxi01.finland.tcscloud.com --reporting_si CPU_Speed:GHzAs of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.

Re: unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
The "Transfer the box293_check_vmware plugin to the vMA" section of https://exchange.nagios.org/components/ ... 0&cf_id=29. Starts on page 8. Instead of transfering to vMA you would transfer it to the MSW.

What about certificates (done),cdienger wrote:The "Transfer the box293_check_vmware plugin to the vMA" section of https://exchange.nagios.org/components/ ... 0&cf_id=29. Starts on page 8. Instead of transfering to vMA you would transfer it to the MSW.
Nagios plugins (done),
Credentials for vcenter (page 10 of box293 docs) - not done, no vcli..
Re: unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
I'm running the install now to verify, but I believe this should be installed as part of the SDK - https://github.com/T-M-D/MSW/blob/master/Deploy.md. Did you follow the steps here to set up the MSW?

Re: unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
Yes I did, but no luck, no vmware libs in the same path (stopped exactly at a step of saving credentials to access vcenter from box293 vMA manual )cdienger wrote:I'm running the install now to verify, but I believe this should be installed as part of the SDK - https://github.com/T-M-D/MSW/blob/master/Deploy.md. Re: unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
What steps did you follow for installing the SDK? The ones in the box293 document were not working for me, but I found the ones in https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf to be better.

Re: unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
These steps are meant to work with Nagios built-in hosts wizard?cdienger wrote:What steps did you follow for installing the SDK? The ones in the box293 document were not working for me, but I found the ones in https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf to be better.
- we were looking into VMWARE cluster and cluster storage monitoring? (this is what the old box293 did for us)
Re: unable to monitor vmware 6.7 via MSW
I'm referring just to the steps to install the SDK that are covered in the document. The SDK must be installed on the MSW which appears to have failed if you don't' have a vcli.
