I have been given a slim window to make changes to my nagios production server.
It has been suggested that I go thru configuration\core config manager\ and then make any changes needed, then wait a couple of hours and hit apply changes.

i think this may cause me issues, any suggestions?

If you make configuration changes in the core config manager they will not be applied until you click apply configuration.

I know, but they want me want me to save my changes and click apply changes an hour or two later.

That's not a problem at all.

If you save the changes, they are stored in the configuration database, but aren't used until the next "apply configuration" is done.
