Nagios XI Application Issues

Post by RIDS_I2MP »

Hi Team,

We are currently facing some issues related to Nagios XI Application.

Performance Graphs are not available like for CPU and Physical Memory Utilization. "Data not available" is getting displayed for each server which shouldn't be the case and it was working fine 2 days back.

Also after enabling monitoring it doesn't get enabled and it stays in Pending State and is neither showing correct results nor getting monitored via Nagios. The Force Immediate Check option is also not working and when we click on it usually it used to get submitted successfully now it says timeout occurred or cannot submit for Force immediate check.

Also we have scheduled a report from a Dashboard which we have created but the report which is fetched over mail doesn't come with proper images or rathe i would say no images of the performance graphs which we have added to dashboard.

Recently we have upgraded Nagios to the latest version.
Please help us to resolve the Issue.
Thanks & Regards,
I2MP Team.

The graphs are generated from the rrd files found under /usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/<hostname>/<service_description>.rrd. Do these files exist and allow read and write access? Here's what the permissions look like on a working example:

Code: Select all

-rw-rw-r-- 1 nagios nagios 768224 Nov 13 06:52 /usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/localhost/PING.rrd
I'd like to get a profile from the XI server which can be generated under Admin > System Config > System Profile > Download Profile, or from the command line with:

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/components/getprofile.sh 60697
The profile is then saved to /usr/local/nagiosxi/var/components/profile.zip. Please send me this file in a private message.

Hi Team,

Also when we are configuring any host for monitoring it stays in Pending State for several hours and other options like Force Immediate check for host and all services doesn't work. Same is the case for Service Monitoring as well it stays in Pending State for several hours which shouldn't be the case.

Kindly help us with a solution for this.
Thanks & Regards,

Are we moving on from the original issue? Has that a been resolved? I didn't receive any of the requested data. If this is a new issue, it would be best to open a separate thread for it. That said, you may be running into:

https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... lit=ndo2db

The thread contains steps to revert back to the old ndo2db method of doing things.

Hi Team,

The Original Issue has not been resolved yet. We are still not able to generate graphs as it displays No Data Available.
I am attaching profile as requested.

Kindly give us a solution.

I didn't see anything obviously wrong in the profile. There were a few instances of the machine being under high load which will cause processing of perfdata to stop temporarily, but this shouldn't prevent the rrd file from ever being written to. This is only happening for some hosts and services correct? Can you provide a screenshot show we can see the graph that is generated as well as the host and service name?

The graphs are generated from the rrd files found under /usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/<hostname>/<service_description>.rrd. Do these files exist and allow read and write access?

Hi Team,

We are again experiencing similar issue as the graphs are not available for all hosts and services from past several days.
Although as asked by you all the required files under cd /usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/hostname/<servicename>.rrd files are present with read and write permissions.

As well, since yesterday suddenly we are getting pop up "Database Error" as attached. We have executed repair_databases.sh and has been executed successfully but still we are getting that pop up every now or then while working on Nagios.

I am hereby attaching profile as well as some screen shots for the error we are receiving and also for the graphs which we are not able to see.

Kindly give us a solution for all of this.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Thanks & Regards,

You are hitting the load_threshold:

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagios/etc/pnp/npcd.cfg
Change this:

Code: Select all

#use_load_threshold = 0
To this:

Code: Select all

use_load_threshold = 0
Then edit this file:

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagios/etc/pnp/process_perfdata.cfg
Change this:

Code: Select all

TIMEOUT = 5
To this:

Code: Select all

TIMEOUT = 40
Then restart npcd:

Code: Select all

systemctl restart npcd
Then wait 15 minutes and validate if the graphs are updating.

If it doesn't update (it should) please send me the XML AND RRD file for that specific service from:

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/HOSTNAME/

Hi Team,

As suggested we have performed the mentioned steps restarted NPCD but post restart we have monitored the graphs but still they are not updating. We are getting blank on the graph page- no graph is getting generated.

As requested attaching XML and RRD files for the host but this is not an issue for just one host but on the contrary we are not able to generated graphs for all the hosts configured on this XI Instance.

Also We are again experiencing the similar issue as we were getting after XI upgrade to 5.7.5. The Configured hosts dont update for 30 minutes even after clicking on Force Immediate check option which should not be the case.

As suggested by your team earlier that is to downgrade your ndo to the previous version we have done it back since then it was working fine but now since 15 days its behaving weird.

The XI Instance becomes inaccessible for sometime and also for each click on "Apply Configuration" the Monitoring Engine and Graphs Engine gets stopped and again starts after sometime and also sometimes we get error while applying configuration and the very next time it happens without throwing any error. This all is not all a good behaviour from Nagios XI Instance performance perspective.

Kindly suggest a solution for all of this.

Attaching the profile as well.
