Service Check Notifications Occurring

Greetings!
I have an odd case where I'm defining a CPU & Mem Service check that at the Service check definition has NO contact or contact groups defined there. The service check is managed by (1) single template and that template has NO contact or contact groups defined either. The template has the the "Notifications enabled" set to "off" and at the service check its sit to "skip" (at the Alert settings tab).
The problem is I expect that NO notifications would be sent. However, they notify and are sent. The only contacts are set at the Host level but host check_host_alive isn't being triggered for any alert whatsoever.
Is it this contact that is driving the notification perhaps since the service check & template doesn't have one set? In short, I just want to have two service checks (CPU and Memory) to execute checks to only obtain performance data and never notify whatsoever. What am I doing here that is causing this to still alert? I'm running 5.7.3 Nagios XI on RHEL 7.9.
