moving From 5.7.7/Centos 6 to 5.8.1 Centos 7

Post by perryell »

Hi there. I have a server running Xi5.7.7 on centos 6.10. I was planning to move the server to a VM with Centos 7 with the same matching installation , and run the backup_xi.sh to backup restore the database in the new one. I notice the new VM shipped with 5.8.1 and the Centos 6 can not go over 5.7. Any way to go directly from one to another one, or a VM with 5.7 is needed?

Hi @perryell,

That's correct. If you're using the OVA's, you'll want to download an OVA with the version you have now. Alternatively, you can install Cent 7 and then install 5.7.5 (5.7.7 must be a type since 5.7.5 was the last one before 5.8) and then upgrade.

Let me know if you have more questions or need assistance.

Benjamin
