Hi,

I would like to know if there is a way to create Nagios Alert when I received a specific email on my Gmail Account.
I'm trying to monitor backup status for my virtual machine that's use XenServer and also the backup status of my Nas Synology which use HyperBackup. Both backup system send me a report through mail that notice me when backup succeed or failed and I would like to centralize this info on Nagios maybe by parsing email or by using passive check. How can I do that without security issue (text plain password ...) ?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

Thank you for trying out Nagios XI. For the Gmail question, I believe you can do this directly in Gmail using a filter ( see:link ). There's a community plugin for checking unread messages, but it doesn't have the ability to notify on the specifics of the email itself.

For checking the status of the backup, please take a look at the community plugins in the Nagios Exchange and let me know if one of those would work out for you.

If you're using a passive check, you can send this over http.

Hope that helps get you started and let me know if you have specific questions.
