VM-Image Centos 64-bit Image to Source Install w/MySQL

One main question I have is currently during our Trial we have configured the VMWare image running CentOS 6 - 64bit with our services. It has been thrown around the company that we would rather run NagiosXI from source install with a MySQL Backend. Is it possible for me to do a backup from the Postgres VMware image and restore into into an install from source with MySQL Backend? or will that break because of configuration files? Is there any easy way to move over the users and checks but leave the other configurations in place???
