Email notifications differ for some users

Post by TBT »

I've noticed that email notifications differ for some users. Below is a comparison with sensitive information adjusted.

These two users receive the same service notification via email but the message title and body differ. Notification Settings Management is using the Default Template. The expected notification is supposed to look like USER A, could this be related to the permissions a user has?

USER A
Title: PROBLEM Service Alert - HOSTNAME/User Count Vendor - HOSTALIAS is WARNING

Body: ***** Nagios XI Alert *****

Nagios has detected a problem with this service.

Notification Type: PROBLEM

Service: User Count
Host: HOSTNAME
Alias: ALIAS
Address: 192.168.1.1
State: WARNING
Info:

If you change notification settings, you'll need to deploy those settings to users, since users have the ability to manage their own notifications.

Open Admin -> Notification Management, and "deploy" the notification preferences to the contacts/users affected.
If you didn't get an 8% raise over the course of the pandemic, you took a pay cut.

Discussion of wages is protected speech under the National Labor Relations Act, and no employer can tell you you can't disclose your pay with your fellow employees.

Okay, so I've tried as you suggested, with the exception of deploying to all Nagios XI Users and Contact Groups as we need these notifications to be the same across the board.

I am selecting the Default Template then clicking Load Template prior to deploy, below are screenshots of related settings. After Deploy Preferences to all Users and Groups, the issue remains as initially reported.

I should also note we're still running XI 5.6.7 (incase of bug) which we plan on updating to current stable next month.

The difference in notifications can also be because they are using a different notification handler for the contact.

Please PM me a copy of your profile.zip from Admin > System Profile and also PM me the name of the contact that received them. It may be using the notify-service-by-email command.
