Nagios Crawling After Changing VM Specs

Post by omarrrthepirate »

Hello. Our Nagios XI VM has been running very slow. When I added a csv of our switches, the web ui crashed. I went to VSphere to look at the specs, and it showed 2 CPU Cores, only 2 GB RAM, and 40 GB Hard Disk. I changed the specs to 4 CPU cores, 8 GB of RAM, and 80 GB for the disk, because we will have close to 500 hosts and over 2500 processes. After upping the specs, I expected it to run much better but instead, it ran even worse! Now the CPU and the RAM are constantly maxed out and the web ui crashes frequently or is very very slow. We are running the database on the same server; could this be one of our issues? Any other ideas? I'm wondering if support gave us the wrong .ova or something. I've had nothing but issues setting this thing up from the very beginning.

Hello @omarrrthepirate

Thanks for reaching out, want to have you check out this tuning performance support article to see if there is some tweaking that can be done. Secondly, verify the host and service checks interval.
