Cisco Catalyst Switches Sending Logs To Nagios Log Server

Post by dewenguni »

Hello team,

I suppose everyone is taking precautions during this covid-19 pandemic.
I have just finished setting up my Nagios Log Server version 2.9 on Cent Os7.
My Challenge is that I have configured my Cisco Catalyst Switch to send logs to my server, I have also specified the port 5544 on which the switch should send the logs, when I check on my Nagios Log Server, I cannot seem to get any logs from my Cisco Switch.

I have configured my windows computer to send logs and I'm able to verify that indeed my windows computer is sending the logs.

What could be the problem? any help? any pointers?

Hi

It looks like Cisco wants to send its logs to a log server's 514 UDP port.
NLS has ports 5544 (TCP and UDP) opened up by default. Can you verify what port
the Cisco switch is configured to send to?

And then check the firewall on the NLLS.

Please let me know what you find.

Thanks
